Safety Overview

Safety is #1 priority at Bay City Marine and is the beginning of our day. We hold our safety meetings in the shop and/or yard on site where all Staff does a morning routine of stretching, safety topic review, and discusses other important announcements. We do regular inspections to make sure our staff and work areas are safe, as well as all tools and machines. Reporting and recording within and outside of our company is a part of our safety culture.

Bay City Marine has multiple walk through inspections daily.  A delegated Safety Captain or Supervisor is responsible for doing a pre-shift walk through that covers checking for basic safety hazards and staff PPE, making sure we get to an overall safe start. The Safety Inspector performs a secondary inspection of the yard and shop to cover more hazardous safety issues, other concerns with different subcontractors in our yards completing projects, and addressing other safety issues at hand. Completing a minimum of these walks leads to superior safety for our staff, clients, and subcontractors.

Gathering data and sharing it is an additional safety task here at Bay City Marine. Making sure that equipment and tools are to standard, are properly stored, and are maintained on a daily or scheduled inspection is a typical requirement at Bay City Marine and taken very seriously by all staff. Holding, disposing and testing of materials is a regular source for data collection to uphold and improve safety not only for Bay City Marine but the Industries it serves.
